Showupy (“we”, “us”) is an appointment reminder service run from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. This page explains what information we collect, why, and what you can do about it. Questions? Email hello@showupy.com.
Who this covers
- Businesses that create a Showupy account (for example a barbershop or salon).
- Customers of those businesses, who receive reminder emails from Showupy on the business's behalf.
What we collect
From businesses: your email address, password (stored encrypted, we can't read it), business name, timezone and reminder settings.
About customers, entered by the business: name, email address, phone number (optional) and appointment date and time. We also record whether a reminder was sent and whether the customer confirmed or cancelled.
We use only the cookies needed to keep businesses logged in. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies, and we don't sell or rent anyone's information.
Why we use it
- To send appointment reminders and show businesses who has confirmed or cancelled.
- To run your account, answer support questions and send important notices about the service.
- To keep the service secure and working properly.
We don't use customer information for marketing, and we never email customers about anything else.
Businesses are responsible for their customers' information
When a business adds a customer, the business decides what to enter and we process it for them. Businesses should only add customers who have booked with them, and should tell their customers they use Showupy to send reminders.
Where your information is stored
We use trusted service providers to run Showupy. Information is stored and processed in the United States, so it may be subject to US law:
- Supabase: database and login
- Vercel: website hosting
- Resend: sending reminder emails
These providers may only use the information to provide their service to us.
How long we keep it
We keep business and appointment information while the business account is open. When a business asks us to close its account, we delete its account and its customers' information within 30 days, except where the law requires us to keep something longer.
Your choices and rights
- Customers can ask the business, or us, to see, correct or delete their information.
- Businesses can update their details in the dashboard, or email us to get a copy of their data or close their account.
Email hello@showupy.com and we'll reply within 30 days. If you're not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Security
Connections to Showupy are encrypted, passwords are stored hashed, and each business can only see its own appointments. No system is perfectly secure, but if a breach puts your information at real risk we'll tell you and the Privacy Commissioner, as the law requires.
Changes
If we make important changes to this policy, we'll email businesses before they take effect and update the date at the top.
